At Amcor, we believe sustainable packaging is not just good for the planet—it's good for business. We're committed to reducing environmental impact while delivering high-quality products.
Our sustainability initiatives focus on three key areas: responsible sourcing, waste reduction, and innovation in eco-friendly materials.
Certificate: FSC C016245 (renewed March 2024, expires March 2029)
Covers 89% of our paper-based products. Remaining 11% sourced from PEFC-certified suppliers during FSC material shortages.
Certificate: ISO-EMS-2024-027 (recertified October 2024)
Annual compliance audits by BSI. Last audit: Oct 2024 with 2 minor non-conformities resolved within 30 days (lighting sensors, waste segregation labeling).
Most of our packaging products are fully recyclable, helping create a circular economy.
Average 75% PCR content in corrugated products (verified Q4 2024 production analysis, n=127 batches). Up to 80% available but adds 5-8% to material costs.
Trade-off: High PCR content may reduce stacking strength by 10-15% vs virgin materials—suitable for most applications but not recommended for 8+ high stacking.
45% renewable energy (solar panels installed 2022, utility green power purchase agreement). Reduced energy consumption 30% since 2020 baseline (verified by utility meter data).
Limitation: Solar provides 18% power but only during daylight; remaining 27% from grid renewable credits. Complete solar independence requires $850K battery storage investment under evaluation.
Closed-loop water systems in our manufacturing reduce water usage by 60%. All wastewater is treated before discharge.
92% waste diversion achieved (verified by waste hauler reports, Nov 2024). Target: 95% by Dec 2026.
Challenge: Remaining 8% consists of contaminated materials (ink-soaked rags, adhesive waste) requiring specialized recycling facilities not yet available locally. Exploring partnership with regional hazmat processor.
